Substitute Teacher Day

We had a surprise sub this morning in the land of the dinosaurs. Mrs. Decker was not feeling well at all. Hopefully, she will make it back to school tomorrow, Thursday, September 23rd for the Family Picnic.

Writing Folktales/ Tall Tales

This week we are composing our own Folktales/Tall Tales during writing time. Please work with your child at home to become a better writer by asking them about their story and either reading or telling them stories you remember from your childhood. Storytelling is a great way to connect our lives to our writing. Plus, it enhances creativity!

Spelling Tests Begin this Week!

Dinosaur Families,

This week we will begin our new spelling routine. Each week, your child will bring home a new list of spelling words. There will be between 8 and 10 words that follow a particular spelling pattern and 5 words that are commonly used words in the English language that students in 2^nd grade should know and be able to use. We will be using these words in activities at school each day and would like for students to be practicing these words at home each night as well. We will have a spelling test on Friday over all 13 to 15 words. The number of words your student will be learning depends upon their level of spelling skills coming into 2^nd grade. We want each and every student to be successful.
